REPLACING AN OLD HEAT PUMP: CUSTOMER FEEDBACK AFTER A WAO INSTALLATION
Installed in autumn 2025 in Villevocance (Ardèche, France), this WAO air-to-water heat pump installation replaced a system dating back to 2010, which had become less efficient over the years. Just a few months after commissioning, the homeowner is already enjoying improved thermal comfort, better control over energy consumption, and particularly appreciates the remote support provided by the WARMEO teams.
« With this heat pump, I discovered underfloor cooling. I’m not a fan of traditional air conditioning: the coolness that comes up through the floor feels much softer and more natural, without any drafts. Honestly, it’s very pleasant on a daily basis. »

Project Highlights
PROJECT TYPE
Replacement of an existing heat pump
INSTALLATION
Single-family home with hydronic underfloor heating
Solution installée
- WAO air-to-water heat pump
- RLB100 connectivity module
COMMISSIONING
October 2025
Background & Requirements
The house was already equipped with a heat pump installed in 2010. After nearly fifteen years of operation, the system was showing signs of ageing and no longer provided the level of thermal comfort expected.
The homeowner wanted to keep the existing heating system while replacing the old heat pump with a solution that was more efficient, more economical, and more comfortable on a daily basis.
The goal was also to retain the benefits of the existing underfloor heating system while taking advantage of a more modern heat pump, capable of providing even heating throughout the winter and gentle cooling during the summer.
Installed Solution
The solution selected was a WARMEO WAO air-to-water heat pump, connected to the existing hydronic underfloor heating system.
The installation was carried out with the support of the WARMEO teams, from system sizing through to commissioning. In addition to heating, the solution also provides gentle cooling during the summer through the underfloor heating system, while offering smart connected control and remote monitoring and support.
Key Benefits
Better control over energy consumption
Consistent thermal comfort throughout the home
Connected monitoring and remote support
Attractive outdoor unit design
Gentle summer cooling through the underfloor heating system
Ongoing Support After Installation
Beyond the heat pump’s performance, the homeowner highlights the quality of the support provided after commissioning.
During the first uses of the cooling mode, a few settings adjustments were made remotely to adapt the installation to the home’s specific needs. Thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity and the RLB100 module, the WARMEO teams can monitor system operation, assist users with their settings, and respond quickly whenever necessary, without the need for an on-site visit.
Customer Feedback After a First Winter and a First Heatwave
Why Did You Choose WARMEO?
“I was already familiar with POLYTROPIC’s expertise in thermodynamic solutions, so naturally I trusted their teams when this project came up. My discussions with WARMEO quickly gave me confidence: I felt I was dealing with people who truly understood their products and would support us throughout the entire project.”
After your first winter and first heatwave with the system, how would you assess your installation?
“We experienced a completely different winter. The heat is much more evenly distributed throughout the house, making it far more comfortable than before. And this summer, I discovered underfloor cooling. I’m not a fan of traditional air conditioning: the coolness that comes up through the floor feels much softer and more natural. You can genuinely feel the difference, without any sensation of drafts. Honestly, it’s very pleasant.”
What Do You Think of the Support Provided by WARMEO?
“It’s a real advantage. We know there is someone behind the system who can monitor the installation and respond quickly if needed. This summer, I needed an adjustment to the underfloor cooling settings, and the WARMEO team was able to intervene remotely and make the necessary changes very quickly. It’s extremely reassuring to know that we continue to receive support over time.”
Beyond the system's performance, was there one aspect that particularly stood out to you?
“Yes, the design of the outdoor unit. I think it looks really attractive, whereas heat pumps are not usually known for their appearance. People who visit our home are often surprised when I tell them it’s actually a heat pump.”
Would You Recommend WARMEO?
“Yes, without hesitation. The product performs extremely well, the support is excellent, and I feel supported even after the installation has been completed.”

FAQ — Air-to-Water Heat Pump Replacement
Yes. When a hydronic underfloor heating system or other compatible heat emitters are already in place, it is often possible to replace only the heat pump while keeping the existing heating installation.
Yes. Thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity and the RLB100 module, the WARMEO team can support users, monitor certain operating parameters, and make remote adjustments whenever necessary.
Yes. Certain air-to-water heat pumps, such as the WAO, can provide gentle cooling through a hydronic underfloor heating system, offering a summer comfort experience that differs from conventional air conditioning.
A heat pump should generally be considered for replacement when several warning signs appear: declining performance, increasing energy consumption, more frequent breakdowns, or a system that is reaching the end of its service life. An ageing installation may also become less suited to today’s comfort expectations or to the latest available features, such as smart controls, connectivity, and remote monitoring.
Replacing the system can help restore optimal thermal comfort, improve control over energy consumption, and provide a more efficient solution that is better suited to modern needs and lifestyles.
